The Jesuits were the first masters in Europe, founded the Catholic Church, many universities and scientific theories.
The belief that Catholics are against the formation is simply wrong.

At least some do. This link is a website with information on the research work at the Vatican Observatory. Almost all of them is a Jesuit priest (from SJ is indicated by its name).
